Brownsville, Tx - The UTB/TSC Women's soccer squad will be on the road beginning tomorrow. They will first visit Texas College in Tyler, Texas for a matchup at 3 p.m. on Thursday. On Saturday they will travel to Muskogee, Oklahoma to take on Bacone College game time is also set for 3 p.m.
The Women's team was home for back to back games last week but aside from those rare home games they have been on the road for most of the season, six times in the last nine matches to be exact.
"It was great to finally play home after six games on the road, and it helped build up the positive momentum that came with winning the last five and having a very strong start in the conference which is the most important thing right now." said Women's Head Coach Nik Barjaktarevic. "Playing home gave us a short rest after a grueling travel schedule, and although it continues this week, it seems like we are almost used to traveling and playing on the road."
Although Texas College and Bacone College are both going through some growing pains this year coach Barjaktarevic knows they can not take the competition lightly.
"We have another two important games in the conference and although both Texas College and Bacone (College) are currently in the lower end of the table, they are more than capable of surprising any team." said Barjaktarevic. "Bacone College had a strong showing last year in their apperance in the RRAC Tournament semi-finals but Bacone College is our second game of the road trip so I feel that our team emphasis should be not to look ahead and past Texas College."
The Women's team will be back home for a match versus Huston-Tillotson on October 11.
