The UTB-TSC Women's soccer team is on a roll lately and that roll continued on Thursday when they beat Texas College 4-0 in Tyler, Texas. The Women's team seemed very poised and was in control for the most part of the game.

"I am very happy with the performance and maturity over the whole 90 minutes (of the match). We were able to follow the game plan and play disciplined and patient through out the game." said Head Coach Nik Barjaktarevic

It did not take long for UTB/TSC to find the net. Monica Mendes set up Susana Munoz for the first goal of the contest finding the net in the 8th minute. That goal set the tone for the rest of the game for UTB/TSC.

"Timing of our first goal was great and really helped us remain in control the whole game."

The rest of the game practically went scoreless until the last six minutes of the contest when UTB/TSC put in three quick goals.

"In the second half our team kept the pressure, controled the possesion, and we were able to rotate and get some freshness in the second half. Our patience finally payed off with 3 great goals." said Barjaktarevic.

The second goal for UTB/TSC would come off a penalty kick by Isadora Freitas in the 82nd minute of the game.

The last two scores were both by Nicole Heer. FIrst one came off an assist from Nelleke Smits and the next one came off a feed from Freitas.

Coach Barjaktarevic felt good about the team's cohesiveness on both sides of the field.

"Defensively we were organized and also able to get our outside backs involved more in the attack." said Barjaktarevic. "It was very important for us to not only win but to play well defensively and stay disciplined. Now we can turn to our next conference game in Oklahoma."

The Women's team will face Bacone College on Saturday in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Game time is 3 p.m.

Notes: First goal this season for Munoz and Heer. UTB/TSC Women's squad played Bacone College last year in the Red River Athletic Conference tournament, which they beat to get in the Finals. Bacone had just pulled the upset over heavy favorite Texas Wesleyan in the first round.
