
WACO, Texas -- Stephania Vazquez of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) was honored with the Red River Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award for Sept. 24-30, and Amanda Fulton of the University of Texas-Brownsville was selected as the RRAC Defensive Player of the Week for the same dates.
Fulton, a sophomore goalkeeper from Bakersfield, Calif., posted two shutouts for UTB/TSC last week. She had four saves, including a a penalty kick, en route to a 4-0 blanking of USW. Fulton also directed UTB's 2-0 defeat of TWU. The Lady Scorpions are 3-0 in the RRAC standings with a 5-3 record on the season.
Vazquez, a freshman forward from Houston, notched a pair of goals and assisted on another in a 2-0 week for the Lady Saints. She accounted for both goals in a 2-1 win over Texas Wesleyan University then assisted on the only goal in a 1-0 victory against University of the Southwest (N.M.). OLLU stayed unbeaten in conference play at 3-0 with a mark of 5-4 overall.
Amy Lambdin of Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Texas), Brooke Martin of LSU Shreveport, Katherine Vega of UTB, and Shelby Zielke of Bacone College (Okla.) were additional offensive player of the week nominees. Nikole Gase of OLLU and Kyrie Stump of Bacone were nominated for defensive player of the week.
