The UTB/TSC Men's soccer team gave up a goal early but tightened up and unloaded their foot on Bacone College to comeback and win 5-1 in Muskogee, Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon.
It did not take Bacone College long to get on the board when they scored on the 7th minute of the contest. That unfortunalety for Bacone College was the last time they would find the net.
From then on it was all UTB/TSC.
In the 12th minute Orrin Farrell found Henry Moody and set him up for UTB/TSC first goal of the afternoon. Eight minutes later on the 20th minute of the contest Igor Barbosa set up Ricardo Diegues for goal number two. Diegues returned the favor and on the 26th minute he assisted Barbosa for the third goal of the match. With halftime fast approaching Diegues again attacked and found the back of the net for his second goal of the afternoon on an assist by Leonardo Medeiros and gave UTB/TSC a 4-1 lead.
"After conceding the early goal it woke us up. We settled down well and played some really good soccer." said UTB/TSC head coach Dan Balaguero. "A main reason for this was due to the pressure we were putting them under defensively. The finish was once again fantastic and was very pleasing."
One of Brownsville's hometown boys, Jorge Cantu, finished up the kicking feast with the last goal of the match on a set up by Medeiros on the 82nd minute of the game to finalize the score.
"Doing all the hard work defensively today earned us the win." said Balaguero.
UTB/TSC road trip comes to an end and they return to Brownsville to get ready for a much anticipated matchup verus the Huston-Tillotson Rams on Thursday at 5 p.m. The Rams are the defending Red River Athletic Conference regular season and tournament champions.
"We have a huge game up on Thursday." said Balaguero. "We have respect for HT (Huston-Tillotson) and we know we will have to be at our best to beat them."
