
The UTB/TSC golf teams concluded day one of the Talamonti Invitational in Houston, Texas. The tournament is being played at the Sterling Country Club and is hosted by The University of St. Thomas.
Day One total for the Men's team is 298 with Gage Murphy leading the pack having shot a course score of 73. The men are currently tied for second. Other scores for the men are Eric Cavazos 74, Alberto Castillo 75, Marcus Cavazos 76, and Chris Tagle 79.
"The men played well today Coach (Vince) Cavazos was with the men and had a lot of good things to say about the way they played. They are tied for second place only 6 shots behind Texas Wesleyan." said UTB/TSC Head Golf Coach Anthony Lopez.
The Women's posted a total team score of 339 with the front runner Alaney Muro leading the squad with an individual score of 76. Other scores for the women are Veronica Vasquez 82, Elizabeth Garza 90, Angela Zepeda 91, and Christian Lira 101.
"The Women played well today also but struggled on the greens a bit." said Lopez
The tournament wraps up tomorrow and UTB/TSC will be looking to make a run at the title.
"I think tomorrow will be a good day for both teams and both will have a chance to win tomorrow." said Lopez
