
WACO, Texas -- Courtney Wilcut of Huston-Tillotson University (Texas) snared the Red River Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award for Oct. 1-7, while Sarah Regalado of the University of Texas-Brownsville was named the RRAC Defensive Player of the Week for the same dates.
Regalado, a sophomore defender from McAllen, Texas, anchored the Lady Scorpion defense that didn't surrender a goal in two matches last week. UTB didn't allow a shot on goal while stopping Texas College, 4-0, and blanked Bacone College (Okla.), 6-0. The Lady Scorpions remained unbeaten at 5-0 in the conference and improved to 7-3 overall.
Wilcut, a junior forward from San Antonio, Texas, recorded a hat trick to propel the Lady Rams to their second conference victory of the season, a 6-0 win over Wiley College (Texas). Wilcut also provided an assist in addition to the three goals to push HT to 2-3 in conference play and 2-10 on the season.
Rocio Gutierrez of Northwood University (Texas), Susana Munoz of the UT-Brownsville, and Stephania Vazquez of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) were additional offensive player of the week nominees. Natalie Carter of Northwood, Nikole Gase of OLLU and Shay Wells of LSU Shreveport were nominated for defensive player of the week.
