
WACO, Texas -- Shayla Beene of Bacone College (Okla.) secured Red River Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week recognition for Oct. 15-21, while Amanda Fulton of the University of Texas-Brownsville was tabbed as the RRAC Defensive Player of the Week for the same dates.
Beene, a junior forward from Porter, Okla., netted two goals and assisted on five others for nine points in the Lady Warriors' 12-1 win over Wiley College (Texas). Bacone advanced to 4-5 in conference play and 5-12 overall.
Fulton, a sophomore goalkeeper from Bakersfield, Calif., recorded a 3-0 shutout over LSU Shreveport then supplied five saves to hold on for a 1-1 tie against Northwood University (Texas). The Lady Scorpions sit atop the RRAC standings at 8-0-1 and 10-3-1.
Rocio Gutierrez of Northwood University (Texas) and Tabiata Viera of UTB were additional offensive player of the week nominees. Katie Knapp of Northwood and Shelby Zielke of Bacone were nominated for defensive player of the week.
