WACO, Texas -- Christine Ruckman of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) received double honors as the Red River Athletic Conference Player and Hitter of the Week for the dates of Oct. 15-21. Brittany Weiler of the University of St. Thomas (Texas) picked up the RRAC Setter of the Week award, and Paula Barros of the University of Texas-Brownsville was named RRAC Libero of the Week for the same dates.

Ruckman, a senior middle blocker from San Antonio, Texas, was credited with 17 kills as the Lady Saints produced a 3-0 sweep of Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Texas). She posted an attack percentage of .458 with just six errors in 24 total attacks. OLLU moved to 6-2 in conference play and 11-13 on the season.

Weiler, a senior setter from Deer Park, Texas, dished out 87 assists in two victories for an average of 12.4 assists per set. She had 37 assists against Huston-Tillotson University (Texas) and 50 against the University of the Southwest (N.M.) in addition to 25 digs and five service aces. UST sits at 7-2 in the RRAC and 16-10 overall.

Barros, a senior libero from Sao Paulo, Brazil, had some symmetry to her performance last week with 20 digs in two wins over SAGU and Texas Wesleyan University. She registered a .944 reception percentage with just one error in 18 attempts. The Lady Scorpions remained unbeaten with a 9-0 conference mark and 19-0 record overall.

Stephanie Biediger of the UST, Lynsay Buell of TWU, Erica Chimak of UTB, Jerrica Jenkins of Texas College, Leslie Jenkins of Bacone College (Okla.), Yessica Marenco of Jarvis Christian College (Texas), Danica Markovic of UTB, Ingrid Mosquera of Wiley College (Texas), and LaReisha Murphy of JCC were additional player/hitter of the week nominees. Angelica Arroyo of TWU, Katarina Bursac of UTB, Denise Duplechin of TC, and Jessica Izquierdo of Wiley were nominated for setter of the week. Diana Castaneda of Wiley, Stephanie Dominguez of TWU, Amber Girdy of TC, Amber Green of HT, and Shirley Paul of UST were libero nominees.
