On Monday the UTB and TSC Men's Golf team will be in Grand Prairie, Texas for a conference tournament at the Tangle Ridge Golf Course playing in the Northwood University Fall Shootout.
This will be the biggest fall tournament for the men's golf team this semester. It's a big field with good quality programs. The tournament field includes the host Northwood University, Texas Wesleyan, Oklahoma Baptist, Rogers State, Our Lady of the Lake, University of Houston-Victoria, St. Thomas, Southwestern College, Ashford, Bethany, CSU San Marcos, Lubbock Christian, The Masters College, and Wayland Baptist.
"I'm excited to have the guys compete in this event." said UTB and TSC head golf coach Anthony Lopez. "It is a conference tournament but this event also serves as an opportunity to beat some quality teams normally ranked inside the top 25 in the nation."
Making the trip for the UTB and TSC men's golf team are Gage Murphy, Marcus Cavazos, Eric Cavazos, Alberto Castillo, and Michael Fasci.
"The team has been working really hard and I really want them to see the fruits of their labor at this event." said Lopez. "I fully believe this team can be successful and that's the attitude they need to take when they compete."
The team's tee off time is 8:30 a.m. and will be playing 36 holes.
The Northwood Shootout will be a big measuring stick for the spring semester and it's a chance that UTB and TSC gets to impress the voters for good rankings in the conference polls.
"A good showing here will cap off a good fall semester and hopefully earn some valuable ranking points for the preseason poll." said Lopez.
