WACO, Texas -- Leah Russell of the University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College was picked as the Red River Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for Oct. 22-28, and Shay Wells of LSU Shreveport was named the RRAC Defensive Player of the Week for the same dates.

Russell, a senior forward from Oakville, Ont., netted one goal and assist on another as the Lady Scorpions clinched the regular season conference championship with a 2-0 victory over Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas). UTB finished the regular season at 9-0-1 with a mark of 12-3-1 on the season.

Wells, a senior goalkeeper from Hammond, La., recorded a 1-0 shutout over Northwood University (Texas) with eight saves. The Lady Pilots enter the RRAC tournament with a 6-3-1 conference record and a mark of 9-6-1 overall.

Kelly Boss of LSUS was an additional offensive player of the week nominee. Nikole Gase of OLLU and Abigail Perez of UTB were nominated for defensive player of the week.
