Laguna Vista, TX - The UTB and TSC Women's Golf team shot a combined score of 646 in two days at the 2nd Annual UTB Women's Fall Shootout to garner second place at the South Padre island Golf Course.
Best score of 74 was shot by UTB and TSC Alaney Muro in today's round.
Northwood University took home the title with a combined two-day score of 622.
"I'm extremely proud of the girls today. They played the way they can and should." said UTB and TSC head coach Anthony Lopez.
The five-school tournament began on Sunday and ended today.
Ashford University, University of Houston-Victoria, TAMIU, and Ranger College also participated in the tournament.
After earning a team score of 336 on Sunday the UTB and TSC women's team really stepped it up in day two and shot 310. Those are the kind of number that will get the women's team in contention.
"This squad is solid and capable of shooting good scores that will put them in contention each week." said Lopez.
Senior Christian Lira shot her collegiate low score of 80 in the second round of the tourney.
Coach Lopez was glad of the outcome of his team's host tournament.
"They had the right attitude and determination from the get go and that was the difference." said Lopez.
Other scores for UTB and TSC were 78 by Elizabeth Garza and Veronica Vasquez. Angela Zepeda and Miranda Nichols shot a day two score of 87 respectively.
