WACO, Texas – They keep coming.
The University of Texas at Brownsville women's volleyball player Danica Markovic received her fourth Red River Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week award of the season, securing the honor again for Sept. 23-29.
Michelle Marques of UTB picked up RRAC Hitter of the Week accolades, while Elizabeth Mackenzie-Williams of the University of St. Thomas (Texas) and Jessica Izquierdo of Wiley College (Texas) were named RRAC Co-Setters of the Week. Diana Castaneda of Wiley was recognized as the RRAC Libero of the Week.
Markovic, a senior outside hitter from Subotica, Serbia, sparked a 3-0 sweep over University of the Southwest (N.M.) in the second-ranked Ocelots' only match of the week. The 2012 RRAC Player of the Year delivered 11 kills in 17 total attempts with one error for a hitting percentage of .588. Markovic also contributed eight service aces and three digs as UTB stayed perfect at 4-0 in conference play and 12-0 overall.
Marques, a senior right side from Minas Gerais, Brazil, connected on 10 of 15 kill attempts with one error in the Ocelots' victory over USW. She posted a hitting percentage of .600 and connected on a pair of service aces.
The Ocelots return to the hardwood tomorrow when they travel to San Antonio to take on Our Lady of the Lake University at 6:00 p.m.
