Lubbock Christian University started its 2009 season at Scorpion Field against UTB/TSC.

The Chaparrals ended it Friday by defeating Point Loma Nazarene University (Calif.), 11-8, to win the NAIA Baseball National Championship in Lewiston, Idaho.

LCC, a member of the Sooner Athletic Conference, finished the season with a record of 52-8. The Chaps were the top-ranked team for most of the 2009 season.

On February 6-7 at Scorpion Field, the Chaps started their 2009 season by winning four games over the Scorpions, hitting 13 home runs on a windy weekend.

UTB/TSC finished the season with a record of 28-31 and finished third in the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament.
