On a recent visit to Corpus Christi UTB/TSC golf coach Robert Lucio had the unique opportunity to improve both the Scorpion men's and women's golf teams in the same trip. The veteran coach did not let the chance pass him by as he signed two Corpus Christi golfers, Marcus Cavazos and Cat Lira, to RRAC Letters of Intent.

"They are the two best prospects out of that area," Lucio said. "I am excited to have them in our program."

Cavazos, a senior from Miller High School in Corpus Christi, finished second at the District 30-4A Tournament this season and finished 16th at the Regional Tournament. Cavazos' junior year was more impressive as he won the Regional Tournament and advanced to the Texas State Tournament where he finished ninth.

Lira, meanwhile, is a senior from Moody High School in Corpus Christi. In 2009 she finished second at District 30-4A Tournament after winning the tournament in 2008.

Both Lira and Cavazos were District 30-4A first-team All-District selections in 2009.
