The UTB/TSC women's volleyball team returned home to the Brownsville-South Padre Island International Airport to friends and family after a successful run at the NAIA Women's Volleyball National Championship in Sioux City, Iowa.
 
UTB/TSC won three matches and lost only to eventual national champion Fresno Pacific University and semifinalist Concordia University, both from California's Golden State Athletic Conference.
 
In Pool D, the Scorpions defeated Bellevue (Neb.) and Morningside (Iowa) and lost to Concordia. They then defeated College of Idaho in a championship bracket elimination game before falling to Fresno in the quarterfinals.
 
The Scorpions finished with a 34-3 record, with the only other loss coming to Georgetown (Ky.), which lost to Fresno Pacific in the championship match.
 
UTB/TSC won the Red River Athletic Conference without losing a single set and had a 30-match winning streak going into the national tournament.
