Matt Leffler and Danny Gidora turned in strong pitching performances for the Scorpions, who allowed eight hits in 12 innings of work. UTB/TSC had 12 hits in the opener and 13 in the nightcap. Jorge Camorlinga went 6-for-8 in the doubleheader.
"Matt did a good job, although he didn't have his best stuff today, he did what he had to do to keep us in the ball game," Scorpion coach Bryan Aughney said. "Danny did what Danny normally does. He gave us a great effort, he came in and threw strikes, which is what we're looking for out of him.
"Offensively we swung the bats well and executed. "When we play our game, good things happen. But tomorrow's a new day and we got to forget about these games today."
