Matt Warner socked a two-run homer down the left-field line in the bottom of the extra eighth inning to give UTB/TSC a dramatic 8-6 victory over The University of Houston-Victoria and a four-game series sweep at Scorpion Field Sunday night. Watch Video!
 
UTB/TSC won the first game of the doubleheader, 5-3. Coupled with victories Saturday by 8-2 and 13-0 scores, UTB/TSC swept the series, 4-0, marking the first four-game series sweep by the Scorpions since joining the NAIA in 2007. Photo Gallery
 
The Scorpions are now 5-3 overall while UHV dropped its ninth straight decision and is now 1-10.
 
The Scorpions next face the Jaguars again in a four-game series in Victoria Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 13-14, in the first of 15 straight road games. UTB/TSC does not play another home game until March 13.
 
Jorge Camorlinga led the Scorpions in hitting for the series, going 9-for-16. Warner went 6-for-12 in the series, with 10 RBI.
 
Scorpions 5, University of Houston-Victoria 3 (first game)
UTB/TSC came back from a 3-2 deficit to tie the game, 3-3 in the fifth, and scored two runs in the sixth to break the tie.
 
Freshman John Bustamante pitched 2.2 innings of relief work to gain his first collegiate victory, striking out five. Chris Raley came on the in the seventh inning for his first save of the year.
 
The Scorpions outhit the Jaguars, 9-5, led by Warner's two hits and two RBI. Peter Maldonado also had two hits for the Scorpions.
 
Scorpions 8, University of Houston-Victoria 6 (second game, 8 innings)
UTB/TSC had a 5-1 lead after two innings before UHV pecked away and overtook the lead, 6-5, in the top of the seventh. The Scorpions tied the game in the bottom of the seventh, 6-6, sending the game into extra innings.
 
Warner's hit drove in Walter Blume, who had walked to lead off the eighth inning. The homer was Warner's only hit of the game, although he had three RBI and scored three times.. Camorlinga was the only Scorpion with two hits.
 
Daniel Garcia started for the Scorpions, going five innings. Kevin Chapman, the fourth pitcher, blew the save opportunity in the seventh but got credit for his first win of the season.
