Andrea Cadriel focuses on tee shot
LAGUNA VISTA -- UTB/TSC could not gain any ground on Trinity University and finished in second place in the 11th Annual Sen. Eddie Lucio Collegiate Invitational Golf Tournament Monday at the South Padre Island Golf Club.
 
The Scorpions finished with a team total of 702, shooting a 348 Monday after a 354 Sunday. Trinity University bested the three-team field with a 691. Texas Lutheran University was third at 703. Photo Gallery!
 
Strong winds throughout the day and a heavy morning fog were troublesome for some golfers.
 
UTB/TSC's Andrea Cadriel, who had a three-shot lead in the individual medalilst race after Sunday, had a rough day Tuesday, shooting a 90 after an opening-round 79 to finish with a 169, five shots out behind first place. She finished in third place.
 
Texas Lutheran's Angela Aufderhaar won medalist honors with a 162, firing 81 on both days.

Krystal Garza turned in the best score for the Scorpions Monday and was only one shot away from the day's best round with an 82. Coupled with an 89 Sunday, she finished with a 171 score and fifth place.
 
Cat Lira shot 92-86 for a 178 total, and Larissa Loredo had a 94-90 for a 184 total. Pamela Lopez' 207 total did not count toward the team score.
 
The Scorpions continue play during the spring season at the Schreiner University Invitational March 1-2 in Kerrville.
