UTB/TSC is in the late stages of a 15-game stretch of road games after starting the season with eight home games. After the Austin doubleheader, the Scorpions will have one more road game against Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi March 9 before a stretch of nine straight home games during Spring Break.
The Scorpions were in all four games against The University of Texas-American and Prairie View A&M University at the Al Ogletree Classic in Edinburg last weekend. UTB/TSC defeated PV, 11-8, and lost to the Panthers by one run in the bottom of the ninth inning, 5-4, despite leading at one time, 4-1.
Against UTPA, the Scorpions came back in a scoring marathon but fell short, 23-17, and fell to a Bronc six-run rally in the eighth inning, 13-9, despite holding a 9-5 lead during the game.
Five of the 12 Scorpion losses this year have come by one run.
Wednesday's meeting is the first in three years between Scorpions and Tornados. UTB/TSC leads the all-time series, 2-0, winning both meetings on the road in 2007.
