KERRVILLE -- UTB/TSC could not keep pace with The University of Texas at Tyler on the second day of the Schreiner Spring Shootout and finished in second place Tuesday at Comanche Trace Golf Course.
 
The Scorpions were tied with UT-Tyler after the first day Monday with 311 scores, but UT-Tyler shot 306 Tuesday while the Scorpions posted a 312 score to finish six strokes back in the nine-team field with a 623 total.
 
Our Lady of the Lake University finished in third place with a 630 score.
 
Brock Crosson fired a three-over-par 75 Tuesday to go with a 78 Monday for a 153 score that put him in tied for third place in the medalist race.
 
Vince Cavazos, who had a 75 score Monday, shot a 79 Tuesday for a 154 total that was good for a sixth place tie. Joseph Lucio shot a 158 and Victor Calzada 162. Chris Milligan's 164 score did not count toward the team totals.
 
Three Scorpions were playing as individuals. Matt Cadriel had two rounds of 80 for a 160 total, Anthony Milligan finished with a 164, and Marcus Cavazos had a 166 total.
 
In the women's division, UTB/TSC improved to sixth place out of eight teams with a 735 total. The Scorpions went from a poor start Monday with a 389 score to a better round Tuesday with a 346 total, an improvement of 43 shots.
 
Andrea Cadriel had the second-best round of the day in the women's field with a 80 score Tuesday. Coupled with a 95 Monday, her 175 total earned her a 12th place finish.
 
Other scores were Krystal Garza 183, Cat Lira 185, Larissa Loredo 192, and Pamela Lopez 218.
 
The next action for the Scorpion men's team will be at the Texas Wesleyan University Invitational March 14-15 while the women next play at the Northwood University Bluebonnet Invitational March 29-30.
