CORPUS CHRISTI -- Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi put an end to the Scorpions' stretch of 15 straight road games with a 14-5 victory over the Scorpions Tuesday at Chapman Field.
 
UTB/TSC is now 8-15 for the season while the NCAA Division I Islanders, members of the Southland Conference, are now 7-4. The game marked the first time the two teams played each other in any sport.
 
The game marked a welcome end to a streak of 15 straight road games that saw the Scorpions win three games and lose 12. UTB/TSC was 5-3 after the first eight games of the season at home.
 
UTB/TSC will now play nine straight home games within a six-day stretch between Saturday, March 13, and Thursday, March 18. The Scorpions host Fisher College (Mass.) in a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. Saturday at Scorpion Field.
 
The Scorpions jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning, thanks to the first four Scorpions reaching base. A Jorge Camorlinga single, Peter Maldonado walk, and Matt Warner single made it 1-0. Matt Ginn followed with a two-run double to give the Scorpions a quick 3-0 lead.
 
However, TAMUCC picked up two in the bottom of the first on two solo homers. The Islanders scored twice in the fourth to take a 4-3 lead, and added 10 runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings.
 
The Scorpions picked up single runs in the eighth and ninth innings.
 
UTB/TSC had 12 hits, two each by Maldonado, Ginn and Robert Mariscal. Warner scored twice and Ginn had two RBI.
 
Matt Leffler started the game but left with a 3-2 lead. Luis Sanchez, the second of five pitchers, absorbed the loss.
