EDMOND, Okla. -- The UTB/TSC women's golf team had a better day, but still finished a distant second in the NAIA Unaffiliated Group #2 Tournament at the River Oaks Golf Club Tuesday.

Northwood University won the event with a team score of 660, shooting a 327 Tuesday after an opening-round score of 327. UTB/TSC shot 377 Tuesday after a 393 Monday for a 770 score.

Five other teams participated in the tournament, and all finished below the Scorpions in the team totals. Other schools in the field were Kansas Wesleyan University (Kan.), Ottawa University (Kan.) and Southwestern College (Kan.) from the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference, and Central Christian College (Kan.) and Peru State College (Neb.) from the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference.

"We did better today, but we knew that we could not catch Northwood," UTB/TSC head golf coach Bob Lucio said. "That is what I expected us to do in the first round. That's the way it goes. We'll have a stronger team next year."

Northwood advances to the NAIA National Women's Golf Championships in May in Rapid City, S.D.

Andrea Cadriel led the Scorpions with a 186 score, followed by Krystal Garza 188, Larissa Loredo 191, and Cat Lira 205. Pamela Lopez' 218 did not count toward the team total.

Lucio was named RRAC Co-Coach of the Year with Northwood's Gary Belt.
