The winner advances to the championship game at 1 p.m. Tuesday, while the loser advances to an elimination game at 7 p.m. Monday.
UTB/TSC is now 28-20 for the year, equaling their team-record high for victories in a season.
Chapman was the workhorse Sunday, going all nine innings and throwing 134 pitches. He scattered 10 hits, struck out five and walked two.
Sunday's win also marked the first time that the Scorpions had won their first two games in the RRAC Tournament. In the 2008 and 2009 seasons, the Scorpions won their first game, lost the second, won the third, and lost the fourth. Both times, UTB/TSC finished third.
"Two rocks are down ... all it means is that we live to play another day," Aughney said. "We have some bigger goals in mind."
"Kevin did a great job for us," Scorpion coach Bryan Aughney said. "He got into a tough situation in the first inning and again in the in the sixth, but he competed his butt off. He was in his form all day, and located the ball very well."
What was important to Aughney and Chapman was that the Scorpions did not have to use their bullpen Sunday, giving them numerous fresh arms for the rest of the tournament.

"Now we have a fresh pen going into tomorrow," Aughney said. "That's huge in a tournament like this."
Chapman did not want to exit the game to help save the bullpen.
"I was hoping to go all the way because this was a big game and we needed to save our bullpen," Chapman said. "I had to be patient out there and throw my game. This was a big win for us."
While Chapman did his part, the Scorpions bats also came alive.
"We had a good game plan going in, and we put good swings," Aughney said. "We got some deep fly outs that could have gone over."
The Scorpions were also the beneficiaries of 11 walks issued by four Bacone pitchers.
Bacone jumped on Chapman early, starting the game with single, single, double to make it 1-0. Two infield groundouts later made it 3-0.
The Scorpions came back with two in the first and one in the second to tie the game, 3-3.
UTB/TSC took the lead for good in the fourth after Peter Maldonado and Matt Warner were hit by pitches. Gus Henggeler then towered a drive off the left-center field fence for a double, giving the Scorpions a 5-3 lead they would not relinquish.
Walter Blume had a solo homer to lead off the sixth inning, and the Scorpions followed with six more runs in a seven-run inning that made it 12-3. Each team added three runs later in the game.
The Scorpions had 13 hits, three each by Blume and Maldonado, who also scored three runs. Henggeler drove in three, while Jorge Camorlinga, Maldonado, Matt Ginn and Miguel Garcia each scored twice.
Matt Warner went 1-for-3 to extend his hitting streak to 15 games, setting a team record. The old record of 14 was set by Gilbert Puente in 2008 and tied by Camorlinga earlier this year.
