Three Scorpion baseball student-athletes will spend their summer playing for teams that include collegiate players throughout the nation.
Catcher Jeff Allen, a junior from Katy, Texas, will leave on Saturday, May 29 to participate in the Elite Sluggers from the Walter Johnson League in Wichita, Kan. The first game is scheduled June 2.
The Elite Sluggers is one of 19 teams in the Walter Johnson League Baseball, based in Wichita.
Outfielder Jorge Camorlinga, a junior from Matamoros, Tamps., Mexico, and catcher Gus Henggeler, a sophomore from Brownsville Porter, will participate for the Tucson Nationals in Tucson, Ariz.
The Tucson Nationals are a collegiate and semi-pro baseball team that plays in the Pacific Southwest League. The Nationals Team annually consists of college players from Arizona and throughout the United States.
Camorlinga has competed internationally for three years as member of Team Mexico at the Big League International Tournament.
This will be Camorlinga and Henggeler's first time participating in a national summer league. The opening game is scheduled Friday, May 28.
