In the heat and high humidity, the UTB/TSC men's soccer team is undergoing its first week of two-a-day workouts at REK Center Field in preparation for the 2010 season.
Coach
Dan Balaguero welcomed 13 new players to training, but has 16 returning. He will have to trim the roster to 24 after Saturday's Orange vs. White intrasquad scrimmage, scheduled at 4 p.m. at REK Center Field.
The Scorpions will also scrimmage The University of Texas-Pan American Club Soccer Team August 21. They open their season Aug. 27 against Belhaven University in Hattiesburg, Miss.
The Scorpions start the season with seven straight road games before playing their first home game Sept. 25.
UTB/TSC is the defending Red River Athletic Conference champion. In the three years of men's soccer, the Scorpions have won three conference titles. They finished the 2009 season with a 17-0-2 record, the only unbeaten team in the NAIA.
