LONDON, Ontario -- Former UTB/TSC golfer Brock Crosson is tied for sixth place after the first day of the Canadian Men's Amateur Championship at the London Hunt and Country Club Thursday.
Crosson played for the Scorpions two years during the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons. He was one of three seniors this past year with the Scorpions, who won three tournaments and placed second in two others. He is returning to UTB/TSC in the fall semester and hopes to graduate in May 2011.
Crosson shot an opening-round score of 69 and stands only two strokes behind first-round leader Graham Hill.
The tournament continues through Sunday. The tournament champion earns an exemption into the 2011 RBC Canadian Open.
Crosson earned a berth in the U.S. Amateur Championship in July after taking the top spot at a qualifying tournament in July. The U.S. Amateur will be held Aug. 23-29 at Chambers Bay in University Place, Wash.
