Women's Soccer - 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 27, 2010
Ninth-ranked William Carey University started slowly, but finished strong in a 5-0 win over The University of Houston-Victoria in the opening game of the Scorpion Soccer Classic at REK Center Field Friday night.
 
WCU, now 1-0, takes on host UTB/TSC at 6 p.m. Saturday at REK Center Field. UHV, 0-1, rests for a day before facing UTB/TSC at 6 p.m. Sunday.
 
The Crusaders scored two goals in the first half and three in the second half. Sasha Rodriguez scored twice, while Gemma Metcalfe, Jessica Salas and Ashton Wells each scored one.
 
WCU outshot UHV, 14-2, and had an 8-2 advantage on shots on goal.
 
The game marked the first in the history of UHV women's soccer.
