The eighth-ranked UTB/TSC women's volleyball tournament is in Missouri for four matches in the Quality Inn Classic hosted by Columbia College Friday and Saturday.
UTB/TSC plays Missouri Baptist University at 9 a.m. Friday, Lindenwood University (Mo.) at 3 p.m. Friday, Friends University (Kan.) at 3 p.m. Saturday, and seventh-ranked host Columbia College at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Missouri Baptist is 2-2, Lindenwood is 3-2, Friends is 0-0, and Columbia is 1-0.
The Columbia match is the NAIA's featured "Match of the Week" since it is the only national matchup involving two teams ranked in the Top 10.
The Scorpions are 3-0 after winning their first three matches of the season at the Wesleyan Hughes Tournament last week in Fort Worth, hosted by Texas Wesleyan University. UTB/TSC started the 2010 season with wins over Mid-America Christian (Okla.), Loyola (La.) and Brenau (Ga.).
Saturday night's tournament feature matchup between the Scorpions and Cougars is the second meeting ever between the two schools. UTB/TSC last played Columbia in 2008, when the Scorpions had a down year with a 10-23 record. The two teams met in Columbia, Mo., as the Cougars swept the Scorpions, 3-0.
UTB/TSC had one other visit to Columbia College in 2007, when they participated in the NAIA National Women's Volleyball Championships. The Scorpions advanced to the Elite 8 at the national tournament that year, just as they did in the 2009 season.
After the Missouri road trip, the Scorpions have one more road match against Huston-Tillotson University Sept. 7 in Austin before playing their first home match Sept. 14.
