COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Two victories Friday at the Quality Inn Cougar Classic kept eighth-ranked UTB/TSC undefeated after five volleyball matches this year, setting up a potential showdown for Saturday night with seventh-ranked Columbia College.
 
The Scorpions took a pair of tough 3-1 victories Friday in the first two tournament matches against two teams from Missouri. UTB/TSC won by scores of 25-23, 25-15, 21-25, 25-17 over Missouri Baptist University and by scores of 20-25, 25-12, 25-19, 25-22 over Lindenwood University (Mo.)
 
UTB/TSC has two more matches Saturday. The Scorpions take on Friends University (Kan.) at 3 p.m. preceding the NAIA Volleyball Match of the Week at 7 p.m. featuring the only meeting between two teams ranked in the Top 10. Friends (0-1) dropped a 3-0 match to Columbia College, which is 2-0 and is traditionally ranked in the NAIA Top 25.
 
No statistics of Friday's matches were immediately available.
 
Following Saturday's matches, the Scorpions will be on the road for their Red River Athletic Conference opener Tuesday, Sept. 7 at Huston-Tillotson University in Austin. The first Scorpion home match will be Sept. 14.
