Riding a seven-match winning streak to start the season, UTB/TSC visits winless Huston-Tillotson University at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Austin in the Red River Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
The eighth-ranked Scorpions are 7-0, including four victories at the Quality Inn Classic hosted by Columbia University (Mo.) last week. The last win came over seventh-ranked Columbia, 3-1.
A new NAIA Coaches Top 25 poll will be released late Tuesday afternoon, and the Scorpions are certain to climb one and possibly two positions. Sixth-ranked Biola University is 7-3, but with two losses coming to No. 4 Lee University (Tenn.) and No. 5 Northwestern College (Iowa).
By contrast, Huston-Tillotson has yet to win a set in a 0-4 start to the season. The Rams were stopped by 3-0 scores by three California schools and an Illinois school at a tournament in San Diego Aug. 27-28.
Following the HTU match, the Scorpions will finally be home for a seven-match stretch, starting Sept. 14 against Our Lady of the Lake University at Manuel Garza B. Gymnasium.
