Bob Lucio - Head Coach - 5th Season

Robert Lucio has been the head golf coach at UTB/TSC since September 2006.

A native of Brownsville, Lucio comes from a golf family. His father showed he him and his nine brothers and sisters the game of golf at very early age.

Lucio is a 1977 graduate of Hanna High School. During his high school days, he won the South Texas Junior PGA Championship. He led the Eagles in scoring average four straight years and was the district champion in 1976.

In 1982, he received his Bachelor of Arts in Business Management degree from Texas A&I University (now Texas A&M University-Kingsville). He played four years with the Javelinas, leading the team in scoring each season. Lucio was an All-Lone Star Conference selection in 1980.

After graduation, Lucio worked as manager for Wal-Mart before getting back into the golf business. He was Superintendent of the Independence Golf Club in Gonzales, Texas, from 1984-86, and was a member of the Central Texas superintendent's Association.

In 1987, Lucio took over as the golf professional and business professional at Fort Brown Memorial Golf Course, a position he still holds.

That year, he started the Bob Lucio Super Bowl Classic, which helps deserving high school students with scholarships.

He has served as Tournament Chairman for hundreds of golf tournaments, the most of notable of which is the Sen. Eddie Lucio Legends Golf Classic, which raises money for high school seniors in his senatorial district. The tournament has raised more than $100,000 in scholarships for high school seniors.

He has been a member of the Pan American Golf Association since 1987. With his sister Mary Helen Lucio-Garza, Lucio co-founded the First Tee program with the Greater Brownsville Golf Foundation.

From 1987 to 2002, Lucio played professional golf in various mini-tours including Texas Tour, Tight Lies Tour, and Hooters Golf Tour.

He served as a board member with Esperanza Home for Boys, Inc. in the early 1990s, and was voted voted Humanitarian of the Year in 1990. He has served in various other boards through the years.

Lucio and his Wife. Diana, have one son, Joseph Lakota Lucio, a member of the UTB/TSC golf team.

Anthony Lopez - Assistant Coach - 2nd Season
Anthony Lopez was named the Assistant Men's Golf Coach at The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College in August 2008.
 
Prior to his current position, Lopez played for the Scorpion Men's Golf Team from Fall 2003 to Spring 2005 and from Fall 2006 to Spring 2008. He had one collegiate tournament victory at the Mary Hardin Baylor Invitational in October 2006 with scores 72-71.
 
Lopez received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Management degree in December 2007 and is currently working toward his Master of Business Administration degree.
 
He was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas and graduated from Hanna High School in 2003 where he was a District 32-5A medalist for golf during his senior year.
