Athletics Training

Athletic Training at UTB/TSC is committed to providing the best sports medicine care.

Athletic Training was established in the spring of 2007 with the hiring of Marty L. Castillo, head athletic trainer. As a state-licensed athletic trainer, Castillo is responsible for the prevention, care and rehabilitation of injuries for the UTB/TSC Scorpion athletic teams and for daily operations.

The following services are provided for all UTB/TSC student-athletes:

Prevention
  • Planning and implementation of a comprehensive athletic injury and illness prevention program
     
  • Providing health care information and counsel athletes
Care
  • Conducting an initial assessment of an athlete's injury or illness and formulate an impression of the injury or illness in order to provide emergency or continued care and refer to a physician for definitive diagnosis and treatment, if appropriate
     
  • Administering first aid and emergency care for acute athletic injuries and illnesses
Rehabilitation
  • Coordinating, planning and implementing a comprehensive rehabilitation program for athletic injuries
