HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The rough start to the 2010 season continued for the UTB/TSC men's soccer team here Saturday.
UTB/TSC and Mid-Continent University (Ky.) battled to a 1-1 tie after 90 minutes of regulation and 20 minute of overtime in a game played in steady rain on the campus of William Carey University.
The Scorpions are now 0-1-1 for the season.

UTB/TSC begins the 2010 men's soccer campaign 790 miles away from home in Hattiesburg, Miss., with games against two NAIA teams in the deep South, hoping to extend the NAIA's longest current unbeaten streak.
On the home turf of William Carey University, the Scorpions will begin the new season against Belhaven University (Miss.) at 5 p.m. Friday before taking on Mid-Continent University (Ky.) at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Scorpions celebrate after winning 2009 Red River Athletic Conference championship for third straight year
An undefeated season would be a success in just about anybody's book.
But the way the 2009 season ended for UTB/TSC left the Scorpion men's soccer team hungrier than ever for even better results.
UTB/TSC finished last season as the only unbeaten team in the country with a 17-0-2 record. However, the Scorpions lost on penalty kicks to Biola University (Calif.), 4-3, after a 2-2 tie in regulation and two overtimes in an NAIA National Men's Soccer Championship Opening Round game at home.
"While we exceeded our goals during the season, we still have a very bitter taste in our mouths that we did not qualify for the last 16 teams in the nation," Scorpion head coach Dan Balaguero said. "Looking back on the season, going 17-0-2 being ranked 15 and seeded sixth in the nation and having the best win percentage in the county is a big time achievement, one the players should be proud of.

As expected, UTB/TSC cracked the NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll with a No. 16 ranking in the preseason poll released Tuesday.
Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), the defending national champion, is ranked No. 1 in the poll. The Blue Raiders were 20-2-1 in the 2009 season and enters the 2010 season with a 12-game unbeaten streak.
