Scorpion Volleyball Camps for children ages 8 to 18 and for organized teams will be conducted this July by at the Manuel Garza B. Gymnasium on the UTB/TSC campus.

The camps will give participants the opportunity to learn volleyball by Scorpion head volleyball coach Todd Lowery, who has taken seven collegiate teams to the national tournament in seven years.

Members of the UTB/TSC women's volleyball provided volleyball lessons and teamwork activities for Girl Scouts in grades 6-12 at a Girls Scout Camp Bayview January 30.
 
Eight members of the 2009 Scorpions who advanced to the NAIA National Championship tournament participated. They included: Judith Boel, Daianarah Bracero, Erica Chimak, Rafaela Dornelas, Miriele Gobbo, Talita Milasauskas, Luara Rosa, and Jacque Touchet.  UTB/TSC Assistant Coach Roberta Santos organized the visit. Scorpion sophomore outside hitter Arlene Ferreira has been named to the 2009 Tachikara Volleyball All-America Team as a selection to the First Team, as selected by the NAIA Volleyball All-America Selection Committee.
 
Freshman middle blocker Valquiria Caboclo was named to the Third Team.
 
The Scorpions (34-3) were eliminated in the National Championship in the quarterfinals and finished tied for fifth in the nation.

The UTB/TSC women's volleyball team returned home to the Brownsville-South Padre Island International Airport to friends and family after a successful run at the NAIA Women's Volleyball National Championship in Sioux City, Iowa.

A Welcome Home reception is planned at 6:03 p.m. Sunday at the Brownsville-South Padre Island International Airport for the UTB/TSC women's volleyball team, which will arrive from Sioux City, Iowa, after finishing tied for fifth in the NAIA National Women's Volleyball Championship. 
 
The Scorpions were eliminated in the quarterfinals by eventual national champion Fresno Pacific University (Calif.). UTB/TSC finished an outstanding season with a 34-3 record. The other two losses were to national championship finalist Georgetown University (Ky.) and national semifinalist Concordia University (Calif.).
 
Students, faculty, staff and Scorpion fans are encouraged to attend the reception.
